Lisbon Art Weekend returns between today and Sunday to showcase 33 contemporary art spaces and more than 250 artists in free-entry exhibitions, performances and conversations, according to the organization.
In its 5th edition, the event brings together spaces in different areas of Lisbon, from galleries, artists' ateliers and exhibition facilities with different patronages, to give visibility to the capital's contemporary art circuit and creative diversity.
With free entry to all activities, group and individual exhibitions will be presented over three days, in parallel with a program of conversations, concerts, performances and installations.
Balcony Gallery, Galeria Foco, Monitor Lisbon, 3+1 Arte Contemporânea, Galeria Francisco Fino, Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art, Galeria Vera Cortês, Underdogs Gallery, Zaratan - Arte Contemporânea, Appleton, Dialogue Gallery, Atelier Concorde, House of Freedom - Mário Cesariny/Perve Galeria, Fábrica das Águas, Galeria 111 and Hangar Centro de Investigação Artística are some spaces that are part of the program.
Among others, Portuguese and foreign artists Ana Sofia Sá, Andrea Paz Espinoza, Eunice Gonçalves Duarte, Irit Batsry, Juliana Matsumura, and Joana Gomes, Kwame Sousa, André Saraiva, Pinelopi Triantafyllou, João Mouro, Maja Escher, Manuela Falcão, participate. Henrique Neves, Robert Worley, Cécile Matignon and Olivia Borges.
Several artists will give guided tours to the public of their exhibitions over the four days, namely Pedro Cabrita Reis, João Onofre, Márcio Vilela, Diego Castro and Ricardo Valentim.
The program also includes a conversation on "Creation, curation and healing", by Gisela Casimiro and André Tecedeiro, a guided visit to the exhibition "Crossing a bridge on fire", by Belgian artist Berlinde De Bruyckere, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in the Center Cultural de Belém, and the new permanent exhibition "Object, body and space".
