A sculpture by American artist Jeff Koons, valued at around $42,000 [39,000 euros], was literally in pieces after an accident at a private event at an art gallery in Miami, in the United States of America (USA).
The accident happened on Thursday night at the Wynwood Art gallery, when a woman accidentally touched the sculpture, which is a small blue version of the famous 'balloon dog' series, according to Fox News. Artist Stephen Gamson told the station that several guests thought the fall was part of the exhibition, but he saw a woman touching the sculpture before the accident. “I saw that a woman was there. And she was touching [the sculpture], and then the thing fell and shattered into thousands of pieces,” he said. According to Benedicte Caluch, art consultant and sponsor of the exhibition, the woman had no intention of damaging the sculpture and the insurance will cover the damage.
A video circulates on social media, which you can see in the gallery above, of the broken sculpture and employees cleaning the place.
