Until April 28, applications for training grants outside Portugal in the areas of visual arts, theatre, dance, music and cinema, from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, are open.
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's Arts Training Abroad scholarships annually support academic and technical training in the field of visual arts, theatre, dance, music and cinema.
All national or foreign citizens, with permanent residence in Portugal, can apply, with priority given to candidates at the beginning of an artistic career, who apply to attend academic or professional teaching establishments of recognized merit. In the case of music, preference will be given to scholarships in specialties corresponding to orchestra instruments, orchestra conducting and singing.
Scholarships are awarded for a minimum period of three months to a maximum period of 12 months, and may be renewed. The support includes a monthly amount of €1,500, an amount of €1,000 for installation costs and another €500 for travel, and up to €5,000 for tuition fees, paid upon presentation of proof.
This support does not include applications aimed at obtaining bachelor's and doctoral degrees, as well as in the specific areas of Architecture and Urbanism, Design, History of Art, Heritage and Archaeology. Candidates who have already started the cycle of studies for which they are applying will not be considered.
Among the hundreds of young people who have benefited from these grants are pianist Marta Mata, soprano Camila Mandillo, cellist Pedro Massarrão and filmmaker João Gonzalez, whose short film Ice Merchants is among the films nominated for the Oscars 2023.
Applications from March 1st to April 28th (at 3 pm), at www.gulbenkian.pt
