The Stop Shopping Center, whose most of the stores used by musicians had been sealed on July 18, will reopen this Friday with the permanent presence of firefighters, the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, announced today.
"At this moment, we have met all the necessary conditions to reopen under the conditions they know", said Rui Moreira at a press conference in Paços do Concelho, referring to the measures made public on July 21, namely the presence of firefighters in permanence.
The independent mayor described the matter as "resolved for now", but stressed that it is a "temporary" solution that will allow the center to operate for 12 hours.
"We have already said that it can open at 10:00, 10:30 or 11:00, and it can close either at 22:00, or at 22:30 or at 23:00, because there are 12 hours of operation. In principle, what was agreed is 10:30, that's what we pointed to, because it is necessary to mark the interests of several entities", explained the mayor, referring to both the musicians and the stores.
The mayor also said that the majority of users of the space will receive four-hour training given by firefighters to be able to attend the center safely.
