Emerenciano, Portuguese artist, born in Ovar (Portugal) in 1946. Decorative Painting course at the Soares do Reis School of Decorative Arts in Porto. Graduated in Fine Arts – Painting, in 1976, from the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes do Porto, after completing military service and more than two years in the so-called colonial war. He received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, an institution that also grants him a postgraduate grant, another for a study trip to Paris, and receives occasional help to produce documents about his activity.
From 1973 onwards he defines his painting as an approach to writing, the title of an individual exhibition he held at Galeria Módulo in 1979, the first he held in the city of Porto, a journey guided by the motivation of writing as a purpose, without wishing to surpass the border that separates images from words. Writing is represented. Afterwards, other complementary developments are assumed, and a writing will come to declare itself through texts of reflection, and poetic writing leads the author to publish books.
In 1980, he began regularly participating in international exhibitions of Postal Art and Visual Poetry, accepting the invitations addressed to him, and the motivation constituted a sufficient factor in carrying out related developments close to the poetics of postal services, characterized by the small format, envelope, postcard, stamp, and stamp.
In 2000, he participated on behalf of the Ovar City Council in an International Plenary of Artists that took place in the city of Pernik - Bulgaria.
