Guilherme Parente is a Portuguese painter, born in Lisbon. At the beginning of the 1960s he studied painting with master Roberto Araújo at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, in Lisbon. He attended engraving courses at Gravura – Sociedade Cooperativa de Engravers Portugueses, in Lisbon. Between 1968 and 1970 he studied at the Slade School, in London, on a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Guilherme Parente belonged to the 5+1 group together with the sculptor Virgílio Domingues and the painters João Hogan, Júlio Pereira, Sérgio Pombo, and Teresa Magalhães.
