The painter Lima de Freitas was born in Setúbal, in 1927 and died in 1998. Considered by many to be a “Total Artist”, with an important creative and humanist path in contemporary Portuguese culture: painter, illustrator, essayist and brilliant researcher. Considered by many to be a “Total Artist”, with an important creative and humanist path in contemporary Portuguese culture: painter, illustrator, essayist and brilliant researcher. He is the author of essays and books on themes of visual semiotics, aesthetics and symbolism, as well as numerous writings on art. He participated in numerous exhibitions in several countries and held solo shows mainly in Lisbon, Porto, Setúbal, Paris, London, Warsaw, Aarhus and Copenhagen. It is represented in numerous private collections and museums, in Portugal and in a dozen foreign countries.
