Tomás Pires (ÔJE) was born in Lisbon in 1987, from a very young age he resorted to drawing and painting as a form of expression, even though in an exploratory phase one could already see certain references, such as the expressions and social issues implicit in paintings. He graduated in Environmental Design at ESAD.CR in 2010, but it was in 2013 that he challenged himself to leave the studio and start using walls as a medium for his creativity. He started at small events and in abandoned places, until painting in several cities by invitation, such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London, Miami, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, Celaya, San José, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, among others. In 2017, he began exploring different materials and developing new techniques from which his most recent works in wood emerged, which result in a symbiosis between the human being and the plant being, in a search for balance between them, a form of express ourselves through the environment around us. He has already participated in several collective exhibitions, but it was in 2020 that he held his first solo exhibition in the city where he was born, entitled HUMAN NATURE at the Art Room space in Lisbon, showing a series of pieces that recreate human expressions through wood, which give us lead us to observe the ephemeral beauty so intrinsic in us. Currently his professional life is dedicated to developing his technique, painting murals and experimenting with new paths.
