The international competition for the artistic direction of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Centro Cultural de Belém (MAC-CCB) has already opened and ends on August 31st.
According to the CCB administration, the interview phase will take place between September and October, with the announcement of the winning application expected in December.
As revealed on Monday, MAC-CCB opens its doors on October 28th, with the Berardo, Ellipse and Teixeira de Freitas collections in storage, with a solo exhibition by Belgian artist Berlinde de Bruyckere planned.
The criteria for the position of artistic director of the museum are higher education, with emphasis on a doctorate in art history, curation, museology and/or art theory, proven curatorial experience in an international environment, in addition to experience managing an institution museological or exhibition.
On Monday, the Minister of Culture, Pedro Adão e Silva, announced that the CCB Foundation remains the faithful custodian of the Berardo Collection by court decision, which will continue to be part of MAC-CCB's new "expository discourse" from October 28th.
According to the minister, who spoke in the presence of the CCB administration, chaired by Elísio Summavielle, MAC-CCB will open on October 28th with a new "expository speech", which will also include works from the Teixeira de Freitas Collection and the Ellipse Collection , acquired by the State in 2022.
