Curator Nuno Faria was appointed director of the Arpad Szenes Foundation Museum – Vieira da Silva (FASVS), functions that he will assume from March onwards, as a result of an international competition, the entity's source revealed this Thursday to the Lusa agency.
The name of the curator, who was artistic director of the Porto City Museum between 2019 and 2022, was chosen unanimously in an international public competition opened in October last year, according to a statement from the Arpad Szenes Foundation – Vieira da Silva.
Nuno Faria, who was also artistic director of the International Center for the Arts José de Guimarães, in Guimarães, between 2013 and 2019, he was chosen for the position by an independent jury, composed of historian Raquel Henriques da Silva, cultural manager Teresa Patrício Gouveia and curator Vicente Todolí.
Following the jury's decision, the entity's board of directors, chaired by António Gomes de Pinho, decided to appoint Nuno Faria for a three-year term starting in March.
Born in Lisbon in 1971, Nuno Faria, independent curator and assistant professor at the Escola Superior de Design das Caldas da Rainha, of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, will succeed the art historian and curator Marina Bairrão Ruivo, who left FASVS in October last year, where she was for 30 years, 17 as director.
