After riots prevented them from being sold as usual, Pikachu cards Van Gogh must return to the Museum Van Gogh from Amsterdam in mid-February or March.
The cards were originally released last September as part of a collaboration between Pokémon and the Museum Van Gogh. Intended to celebrate the institution's 50th anniversary, the cards were produced with the intention of reaching a younger audience. These depict the iconic yellow Pokémon character in the self-portrait style of van Gogh with Gray Hat.
The cards were previously discontinued due to an uproar. The museum limited sales before eventually canceling production of the cards in late September. Resellers have been selling the Gray Hat Pikachu card at high prices.
Pokémon and the Museum Van Gogh have decided to re-release the card and other products alongside Pokémon-themed activities, as reported by Lifestyle Asia. This time, the museum store will have reinforced security.
Additionally, the card will be available in selected stores in the Netherlands, each selling approximately 100 copies. However, they will only be available to customers who have spent at least €30 ($33) on Pokémon TCG merchandise.
