JUSTLX - Contemporary Art Fair of Lisbon, is back in the Portuguese capital for its fourth edition, after the success obtained by its counterpart JUSTMAD last February, in Madrid. From the 25th to the 28th of May, pavilion 1 of the Lisbon Congress Center will receive around thirty exhibitors from various parts of the globe. In addition to national participation, there is an important international representation from countries such as Spain, England, Iran, Peru and the Philippines, which bring proposals from a hundred artists carefully selected by the fair's artistic committee. The fair is part of Lisbon's Art Week, a week with countless cultural events taking place in the city, which attracts a large number of art professionals from all over the world.
This year, JUSTLX emphasizes the junction between the worlds of “Art, Creativity and Music” with an intense and varied program that goes far beyond the galleries present, and will feature guest artists with performances and site-specific installations – such as is the case of Clo Bourgard which presents a sculptural installation in the entrance hall, the mural by the Venezuelan Manuel Buylla, the live painting by Pedro Zamith and Ivan Villalobos, performances by Alvaro Aroca, as well as DJ Live Acts that take place every day of the fair. Another novelty in this edition is the JUSTLX'perience Programme, which brings a series of exclusive artistic experiences, such as the exhibition and immersive activity Forest Time by artist Evgenia Emets, at Estufa Fria in Lisbon.
The curator Óscar García García, current director of JUSTMAD, in Madrid, will also take over the direction of the Lisbon counterpart this year: “JUSTLX continues with a clear commitment to Lisbon as the dynamic epicenter of contemporary art in Europe, consolidating itself as one of the most essentials of the Portuguese scene. A unique opportunity to discover the latest trends in art and immerse yourself in the world of collecting”, says the new director of JUSTLX.
JUSTLX has come to be characterized as a fair that focuses on new galleries and emerging artists, also contributing to the visibility of the Portuguese art scene. Indeed, the editions of JUST, both in Madrid and Lisbon, have helped many young Portuguese artists to enter large Spanish and Portuguese collections. JUSTLX also reaffirms its strong commitment to making art accessible and bringing it closer to a new generation of collectors, thus boosting the art market.
The fourth edition of JUSTLX once again enjoys the High Sponsorship of the Presidency of the Republic and the usual support of the Lisbon City Council and Turismo de Lisboa. It also brings together the partnerships of the Embassy of Spain in Portugal, Young Collectors Circle, Browns Hotel Group, and the special sponsorship of the wine brands Fita Preta & Sexy Wines.
