Two activists for "healthy and sustainable eating" threw soup at the painting Gioconda, the famous Mona Lisa, by Leonardo Da Vinci. At the Louvre Museum in Paris, women stated that the French agricultural system "is sick" and that "one in three French people does not eat all their meals daily."
The famous Mona Lisa (1503), by Leonardo da Vinci, was once again the target of protest action yesterday. According to the France-Presse news agency, the protest was led by two protesters, who threw red and orange soup towards the work on display at the Louvre Museum, in Paris, amidst the “screams of the crowd [that was] at the Museum". The action was taken up by the Riposte Alimentaire collective, which demands the right to “healthy and sustainable food”.
After throwing the liquid against the glass that protects the Gionconda, and to the admiration of many visitors, the women echoed the cause they defend, denouncing that "there are farmers dying at work". The protest takes place at a time when professionals in the agricultural sector are blocking the main French roads.
After being destroyed one afternoon in 2022, the Mona Lisa again suffers an act of vandalism.
