The world-famous Serbian performance artist has just launched a new line of skincare and wellness products called Abramović Longevity Method. “The search for beauty is often confined to the surface, with a focus on products that improve external appearance,” Abramović wrote in a blog. Instead, she created “a philosophy that transcends superficiality, emphasizing the interconnection between inner well-being and outer beauty.”
All products were produced with the help of Dr. Nonna Brenner, an alternative medicine advocate who runs a health center in Austria. In an interview with Vogue, Abramović credited Brenner with helping her overcome chronic Lyme disease and endure a busy work schedule. “Nonna is determined to make sure I live to be 110 years old,” said Mariana Abramović. “Female artists are only really taken seriously after they turn 100, so if I can do it, maybe they’ll finally take me seriously.”
“I don’t drink, smoke or use drugs”, added Mariana Abramović, as additional factors for her impressive longevity. “I sleep eight hours a day and I have a lover who is 21 years younger.”
This isn't the first time Abramović has tried to establish a new wellness trend and sell associated products. In 2022, the Serbian performance artist launched a set of 30 instruction cards for the Abramović Method, with guidance on how to “restart your life”. Users were encouraged to improve their willpower, concentration and endurance through exercises such as: “walking backwards with a mirror”, “jumping three times” and “drinking a glass of water as slowly as you can”.
A limited run of 8,000 units of each of the four Longevity Method products will be made available in packaging designed by Marina Abramović with her fingerprints.
