1. Tell us you started your career as an artist.
Since I was very young I always loved to paint, I was a very restless child and the only way to concentrate was when I drew something with a pencil. I followed different paths and away from art but in 2019 I returned to painting. My first painting was a painting of a colorful elephant, I sold it right away for only 40€. That amount I invested in another canvas and better quality paints, so I grew, learned and improved the technique. All the pictures I painted I sold until I achieved some financial stability, so painting became my main profession.
2. How would you describe your artistic approach?
In my artistic approach I try to provoke some kind of emotion for whoever is observing my works, I also take into account the decorative issue, I use neutral colors and avoid strong colors to avoid fatigue in the observation.
3. How does your creative process work?
In general, I paint when I need to express something, when I am very inspired and enchanted by some image. At times I am obsessed with certain images and I take advantage of this impulse to paint the canvases. In general, my best works came about that way.
4.What do you try to express in your works?
I'm at a stage in my life where I've been taking immense pleasure in painting animals or sculpture figures.
5. How do you face creative challenges in your work?
The whole challenge starts at the beginning of the painting process when I am not able to expose what is on my mind on canvas. I go through moments of aberration and want to stop but I try to concentrate and continue. In this way there is an impulse and anxiety to see the end result.
6. How do you stay motivated?
I don't need a lot of motivation because I love what I do. I love painting, because it's part of my day-to-day and the biggest motivation is to see my paintings finished.
7. Which artists have you inspired?
I admire the works of Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh, António Bessa, Pedro Guimarães, etc. I am lucky to meet some of the artists in person and get to know their professional career, this makes me fall in love and better understand their works.
8. Do you have a recent project or work that you would like to share?
I'm going to share my most recent work which has the name "Eternel Amour" painted in 2023 and measures 110x170cm. The work represents the best feeling we can experience, Love. Love is able to light up and do unbelievable things. I consider it a strong and affectionate painting.
9. Do you have any advice you would like to share with young people who are taking their first steps in the world of art?
The best and main advice is to PAINT, paint what you like, what you feel and don't forget to challenge yourself. Expose and show your work whenever there is this possibility. This way they will find their admirers.
10. Finally, which artist do you dream of working with one day?
I've always worked alone and I don't even know what it's like to work together with another artist. I dream of being a recognized painter. In life, seeing people recognize my trait at first sight. Traveling the world and exhibiting in the best galleries and the most important thing is to continue painting with the same passion and whatever is on my mind.
