The open calls of CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva for the 2023-2024 season are open, in a total of 18 artistic residencies and three technical residencies. Applications can be submitted until March 31.
The Artistic Residencies program for the 2023/2024 season at CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva is aimed at professional artists and companies whose lines of work are positioned in the areas of contemporary dance, contemporary theater, contemporary circus, animated forms and disciplinary intersections.
With a view to selecting 18 local, national and international artistic projects, and supporting their development, this program provides residencies with a total duration of three weeks (consecutive) per project. At least 50% of these will be attributed to local artists.
Selected artistic projects receive a total of €1,650, corresponding to €550 per week, with the possibility of accommodation for a maximum of two people per project.
The jury for this open call is composed of Cristina Planas Leitão and Drew Klein, artistic co-director of the Department of Performing Arts (which includes Teatro Municipal do Porto, DDD – Festival Dias da Dança and CAMPUS PCS) of Ágora - Cultura e Esporte, EM, by Vânia Rodrigues, cultural manager and researcher, and by António Pedro Lopes, artist, cultural programmer and curator.
Residency projects will also have the option of being monitored by outside eyes (playwrights) chosen in the application form.
In total there will be 54 weeks of occupation at CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva.
Technical residences in Campo Alegre
The open call also involves three Technical Residencies taking place at Teatro Campo Alegre.
In this case, it is aimed at local, national and international artists with a duration of one to two weeks, and favors works in their final creative phase prior to the premiere. At a minimum, support will be given to a local application.
Those selected will have the support of the sound, light, video and machinery teams to develop artistic projects in their creation phase or to deepen/reassemble existing pieces.
An amount of €550 will also be allocated per week for the duration of the residency, and accommodation for a maximum of four people.
The jury for this program is composed of Cristina Planas Leitão and Drew Klein, artistic co-director of the Performing Arts Department of Ágora - Cultura e Esporte do Porto, EM, by Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, musician and visual artist, and by Wilma Moutinho, light designer .
